Logan Ave. Multiuse Path

The Logan Avenue Multiuse Path would run alongside Logan from Main Street, through the CARLE complex, to Harrison Park, where it would connect Ellsworth Park and the Westside Trails, Lincoln Park and the pedestrian path located there (and which also connects to the Stoney Creek Greenway), and Harrison Park and The Trails @ West Harrison. Preliminary planning is being done for this path, however it is currently a compromise of on and off street bike lanes and sidewalk. VCTA would like to see dedicated and separate infrastructure in the form of a wide multiuse path.

In the future, the ultimate vision is to extend this path all the way to Winter Ave. where it would connect with the multiuse sidewalk recently constructed across Lake Vermilion. However, the section north of Vorhees St. poses difficult challenges due to space restraints and would require significant engineering.

With it’s connection to Ellsworth and the Westside Trails, the Logan Ave. path also connects the Danville city trail network to the Kickapoo Rail Trail once it’s extended to Danville. This important connection links Danville to Kickapoo, and ultimately Champaign-Urbana via the 24 mile rail trail.
