Earlier this week, Anthony and Drew from VCTA had the pleasure of sitting down with Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s “Community Connection” to discuss the Harrison Park trail project.
It’s a wide-ranging interview and gives a great overview of VCTA, the Harrison Park project and it’s goals, some Kickapoo Mountain Bike Club news…as well as some EXCITING BREAKING NEWS! 🥳
DRUM ROLL PLEASE! ðŸ¥ðŸ¥ðŸ¥
We’d like to officially announce that VCTA has been AWARDED a Trail Accelerator Grant (TAG) from the International Mountain Bike Association!!! 🤩
The grant is for design services from IMBA’s nationally renowned design firm IMBA Trail Solutions and will deliver a professional design document for progressive features and more on our trail system. In the 4 years of it’s existence, TAGs have been awarded to 40+ communities around the country. However, Harrison Park will be among just a tiny handful of similar projects across the entire Midwest. It cannot be said enough that this is a BIG deal, especially to bikers and cyclists.
HOWEVER, we also can’t stress enough that this project and design are SO MUCH more than just MTB. The entire project is being purpose built for the entire community to enjoy, no matter if you’re on you’re own two feet or on a bike. Portions are even being designed for maximum accessibility, so everyone will have something natural to enjoy at Harrison Park!
The next couple of months will be a flurry of activity with plenty of opportunity to get out in the woods with us. Follow along and subscribe to all our channels for the latest developments and work schedules. Thanks Vermilion County!
